Rapid Evasive Driver - 3 Days
Course Overview and Content
The Rapid Evasive Driver (3 day) course is a mid-level course that
develops an understanding of vehicle dynamics and how the vehicle
will respond in different conditions. This course teaches vehicle collision
avoidance in a greater variety for situations and obstacles. This
will be demonstrated by our instructors and practiced by the candidates
in a controlled environment.
Course Modules
- Serpentine – involves cornering a vehicle at various speeds using techniques of steering, timing and throttle control.
- High Speed Cornering
– involves techniques to comprehend the problems encountered during
high speed cornering and methods to offset or overcome them.
- Evasive
– involves techniques to avoid damage to the vehicle and its occupants
and to protect the driver and any passengers in his care. Techniques
taught include emergency lane changes, Y-turns and brake avoidance.
- 90 Degree Braking – involves developing techniques required in a 90 degree braking situation.
- Controlled Braking – involves developing and applying full braking abilities while maintaining steering control of the vehicle.
Course Objective
Upon completion the trainees will also have the knowledge to:
- Recognize possible threats and react quickly and appropriately, minimizing damage to the vehicle
and its occupants.
- Know vehicle dynamics and apply them to different environmental conditions
- Apply proper braking techniques to maximize traction and maintain vehicle control
