Half Day “Hands-on” Awareness Course
This half-day course covers new Highway Traffic Act and Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registrations
Legislation and driver’s/operators responsibilities related to air brakes.
Classroom Topics
- Overview of the air brake system and basic components
- Identification of the supply (wet) system, secondary and the primary system
- Potential trouble-shooting of the system
- Full pre-trip check of the complete braking system (Run-up & Fan-Down with Mark & Measure)

While one half of the class covers the theoretical portion of the course in class, the remainder will be
outside on our obstacle course.

This course is designed for all public works employees and contractors who operate airbrake equipped
vehicles.
